Had enough? I have.
I have decided to run for the open seat for Congress in Arizona’s Congressional District 3.
I want you to know I’ve thought long and hard about this daunting decision. I truly believe we need fresh voices in Washington if we’re going to meet the challenges we now face. It’s clear that the same politicians making the same bad decisions will only make things worse.

As a business owner I know we need to change directions if we want to save the economy of our great country. I can’t and won’t make a lot of empty promises. But I will go to Washington with the following messages:

• We must stop spending more money than we take in or the massive deficits will sink us and destroy the legacy we leave our children
• The private sector, not the government, will create new jobs and grow the economy if the bureaucrats will just get out of our way
• Since I’m not a professional politician I’m not beholden to any special interest groups or lobbyists and I won’t ever be

As a small business owner I have balanced a budget and created real jobs. I know how to create new jobs. I know how to say “NO” when somebody tries to pass off a bad idea and I won’t be pressured into bad compromises.

I know this campaign will be difficult. My opponents are all politicians with built-in constituencies that give them advantages when it comes to fundraising and name recognition. But I am prepared to work harder and cover District 3 with a small army of volunteers dedicated to moving Washington in a different direction. Our objective will be to get our message to as many people as we can. Meeting with groups, knocking on doors and making sure we "listen" to the people of District 3 will be a key component in our campaign. We will make sure that we are letting them know our position on the issues they care about.

Unfortunately, that might not be enough. We need a competitive mass communication plan that includes direct mail, print ads and electronic advertising. And that takes money.

I know these are difficult times for all of us but I wouldn’t be sending this letter if I didn’t think it was extremely important. Frankly, I need your help.
